As your elected PA House State Representative in the 190^th District – who comes from our Community, I know, first hand, what is needed.

As your elected PA House of Representatives in the 190^th District – born and raised in our Community – I understand the urgency of our children’s needs – and I understand how to bring positive solutions for ALL Citizens!

Like over 72.2% of families in our district, I was raised by a single mother. So, I am no stranger to the responsibilities that many of us live with everyday. And the sacrifices that we must overcome.

I had to work by the time I was 11 to help feed my seven siblings.  All this while I was going to school and graduating from our public school system.

Even though not every child grew up like I did, my story is a similar to the story for many. Kids attending Philadelphia Public Schools.

I went to – Hamilton, Sayre, and Overbrook High School – and needed help.  For many kids, school is the only place to get a full meal. And unfortunately, the resources were lacking to get a quality education.

But, as I said, my childhood was not usual. Growing up, my mother suffered with substance abuse and that forced me to become a man earlier than most.  I became very familiar and comfortable with perseverance; and I decided never to allow myself or anyone else to feel stuck with disappointment again. So, in middle school, I joined “The Young Gentlemen’s Club” and connected with mentors who refined young boys into young men.

In the Young Gentlemen’s Club I began to refine my understanding of integrity, accountability, and responsibility. The mentors in the Young Gentlemen’s Club Program made me the man that I am today.

AS YOUR ELECTED LEGISLATOR IN THE PA HOUSE 190^TH DISTRICT: I will invest in programs that nurture our young people, because they deserve to have opportunities to achieve better outcomes.

With so many of our families living in poverty or suffering from byproducts like crime and under education, as your Elected State Representative for the PA House 190^th District:

• I will support funding for education
• I will support funding for education financial literacy programs.

Understanding the power of a dollar and the significance of keeping money circulating within the community:

• I will support economic development initiatives that support small business
• I will support funding for projects to increase job growth.

As I grew older, I developed a deeper passion for community enrichment and helping others.

So after graduating from Overbrook High School, I successfully gained employment as a Coordinator for University of Pennsylvania Sayre Community School Beacon, which sparked a new passion – working with children.  From there, I opened a daycare center to help single mothers like mine get to work and provide for their families.  I also founded the Overbrook Beacon Community Empowerment Center not far from my alma mater to create programs on: gun violence prevention, financial literacy, drug prevention, after-school care, free technology, dance classes, and mental health awareness.

I have great passion for our community! And I feel that a public servant should reinforce that emotion with action.

My pride is shown by organizing events like street cleanups and beautification initiatives to preserve the dignity and honor our neighborhood deserves. One of my annual events, “Back to School: 1k Bookbag Giveaway”, provides free school bags filled with supplies to school-aged children.

Also, I believe in keeping hope alive:

 By celebrating our seasons and environment.

• By providing free food baskets, home cooked meals, clothing
• By giving gifts to over 600 families during the holidays.

ISSUES
